Tom Godfrey and Theo Thomas opened FOCO in December 2022, after ten years as friends and colleagues in Bristol and Barcelona.

Theo starts bartending.

Tom and Theo meet at Red Light and work together there for two years. Theo leaves to manage a bar in Barcelona. Tom stays, then opens Filthy XIII with Benjamin Alcock and runs it for two years.

After the first lockdown Theo offers Tom his spare room. Tom moves over and they work together at Carlos & Matilda in the Gothic Quarter, Tom in the kitchen and Theo running the floor.

Theo moves to Paradiso and Tom to Two Schmucks, two of the best bars in the world at the time. On the side, they start planning a bar of their own.

Tom Godfrey
Co-founder
Tom built FOCO's drinks, menus and brand. He has cooked as well as bartended, and ran the kitchen at Carlos & Matilda before FOCO.
Theo Thomas
Co-founder
Theo built FOCO's floor, its team and the way guests are looked after. Before FOCO he managed Carlos & Matilda and then worked at Paradiso.
FOCO has a bigger team now, at home and on the road, but it started with the two of them.
